finally got some privacy. using the comp in parent's room cos it has a chair. going to work later. but let's talk a bit about my week. very interesting.

i met my first ever customer that really and truly scared me. she's not scary as in scary you know. it's more like...erm...weird sort of scary. i'm not going into detail here cos it's rather insulting and offensive if she ever sees it. but all i'll say is that she's very...open about most of herself. ask me if you really want to know.

then there was the lady yesterday who bought $100 worth of paper panties. 7 in a pack, 3 packs for $10. that's about...210 paper panties. all i can say is, maybe she's going on a very long holiday. either that, or she's not in the habit of wearing cloth panties. but i got a shock when she appeared at the counter with the basket full of nothing else but paper panties. oh well.

on fitting room duty the other day, there was this elderly lady who came to the store. for some reason, the rest of the staff had mysteriously disappeared. only the bra promoters were around. cos they were all wearing the same uniform as the staff, this lady got quite worked up, thinking that they were all congregating there and not serving customers at the rest of the store. she needed someone to follow her around and help her shop cos she has problems with eyesight etc. so me ended up following her around. lucky she was satisfied with the second pair she tried. else i'd probably be running errands for her forever.

i realised that it's basically the temp staff that have to do cashiering. and i don't like that. i mean like, yesterday me and francisca had an emergency at the cash till cos we didn't have enough change. and there was a long queue. and the adjacent till didn't have small change either. so ended up asking some of the cash paying customers to try to give exact change. then, when it was less crowded, francisca rushed to the cash office to change money. after she rushed back and we put the change in, so few people paid in cash. so we had such a hard time counting the small change when we float out. sigh.

francisca said that on the sat when i didn't come, there was a problem with the cash machines. the entire store's machines all hung except counter 14. so that day, they were so free. don't need to cashier at all. sigh. why wasn't i there when it happened?

moving on to other stuff. i'll probably be performing for the choir concert. i more or less got the hang of the songs. only i can't pronounce the words for "cerf volont". but i know the tune. :D worst case, depend on christy. heeheehee! went for the practice on saturday. their abba songs were so cute. it's the dance steps lah. those type of steps more suitable for small groups than for the whole choir. the audience will be in stitches. their "super trouper" is cool. wish i could sing it. the "gloria" with tk choir is great too. really grand. gerald has become the 'legendary' pianist of tk. kwei was making fun of him that day. the j1s are plotting ways and means of making mr yong malu on stage. they were telling zofia to hold her note really long so that mr yong will have to hold his hand there for really long and maluate himself. evil they are. poor mr yong.

the nus fass open house. went for the lit, sociology, social work and maths talks. lit was ok. i think i'll probably be taking it. maths was weird. there was just 8 of us in the small room. the speaker flashed one transparency (OHP transparency) and talked for 5 minutes. then he said "that's all i have to say. feel free to ask me any questions. feel free to leave if you want to." *gasp* that is the weirdest talk i ever attended. anyway, maths in arts fac is a shared major. no honours unless transfer to science. wanna try that too. someone said that in the first year, can take a bit of everything. later on then declare major. luckily like that. cos i have absolutely no idea what i want to take. sigh. too many things liao. but everyone tells me don't take sociology. but i think it sounded interesting. hmm...

TGIF!!!!!

yes thank god it's friday! finally here ends a gruelling week at work. so tiring. but it's really quite fun once i get the hang of it. meet so many interesting customers.

actually i want to blog. but because my father moved the comp to some really inaccessible place. ie, he's moved it such that we can't sit down to use it. :p and i'm really really tired. been standing all day already. so i'm not going to blog so long.

really want to complain about this. on thurs, i went for lunch with parents. at a restaurant. not high class. not going to put the name here in case they sue me. anyway, my lunch hour. we went out. ordered food. time check, 12.30. my lunch hour until 1.15. ok. so daddy's food came. mummy's food came. and i wait. and wait. and wait. time 1.00. so check what's happening. and the stupid people have only just started to cook my food!! what the hell?! parents already almost finished eating. i really wish i was mdm yew at this point. apparently, they wait until there are many orders and cook en masse. *rolls eyes* what logic is that?! what happens if no one else orders the same dish as me? will i have to wait forever for my food? people who order after me already finishing their food. and the place was empty when i ordered. what happened to first come first served?! so at this point, i'm quite panicky cos i only have 15 minutes to eat and go toilet and rest and walk back to the store. so asked if i can get a refund. decided to go someplace else. the idiot cashier refused to give me a refund. no point changing order cos it'll prob take another half hour. i so wished i was mdm yew. gosh. i would probably shout at them. it's ridiculous. they've wasted so much of my time. and i specifically told them that i've got to rush back to work. and still they take their own sweet time. fuck.

kk. tired liao. my feet hurt. crazy father putting the comp here. it's not practical. and it's he that's complaining about feet being pain. *rolls eyes*

december 22!!!

looking forward to that date. why? cos that's the day when "the lion, the witch and the wardrobe" opens. for those who don't know, it is the movie adaptation of C.S. Lewis's book, one of the novels in the Chronicles of Narnia series.

quick synopsis of the text. 4 children go to live with a professor in the english countryside. in his house, they discover a wardrobe that is the 'doorway' to a fantastic country, Narnia. Narnia is a country inhabited by fantasy creatures like fauns, dwarves, talking animals. but this country is ruled by a wicked White Witch. the White Witch covered the land in an everlasting winter. these 4 children are the 'chosen ones' who are to deliver Narnia from her tyranny. but along the way, one of them gets 'corrupted' by the White Witch. Aslan the Lion comes into the picture. the White Witch declares that in order to 'fulfil destiny', because of the corrupted one, there has to be a blood sacrifice. Aslan offers himself in sacrifice, in exchange for the boy. the White Witch kills Aslan. but Aslan pulls of a 'Jesus christ' thing by rising from the dead, and becoming more powerful as a result. together, Aslan and the 4 children help to overthrow the White Witch. the 4 children thus begin a reign of peace in Narnia. after many many years of golden rule, the children (now adults) rediscover the 'doorway' back to the 'real' world. they reemerge from the wardrobe exactly as when they entered, as if nothing had ever happened, and return to their lives, but carrying the secret of Narnia with them. btw, it is realised in the course of the book that the professor actually knows about Narnia and was present at its 'creation'. but he doesn't tell them that. the reader has to infer for themselves.

now, i got really excited when i saw the newspaper article. i thought they were going to make the entire series. but what dampened my excitement was the realisation that "lion, witch and wardrobe" is actually the 2nd book in the series. of course, it is one of the most exciting. i could not put it down. but i was a little disappointed that they may not be doing the entire series. pity. but maybe this movie will inspire people to want to read the entire series for themselves. that would be great. :D

looking through duan hui's blog and i realised that she really has a lot a lot a lot to say. don't know if it's interesting cos i just skimmed through it before coming to my own blog, but it definately looks different from others. i.e. it's not just a diary blog. sure, maybe she has too much time on her hands but i think she writes quite well actually. take a look and see. (link under 'destinations' drop down) btw, duan hui, i've put comments link here specially for you. so you can go ahead and write what you want.

next, have you ever noticed how sometimes the things you say come true sort of? like during work, me and colleague were talking about another colleague, wondering where she is. then we turn around and there she is, just walking towards us. yesterday, nisha and me were talking about boyfriends and colleagues becoming couples. i was telling nisha that i don't have a boyfriend. then she was saying, maybe i'll find someone working at the store. and that very day, i was working with 3 guys. woah! let me tell you about those guys. it breaks even my juice asia record of me and 2 guys.

first guy, shoe promoter larry. i was cashiering all day. very busy, being saturday afternoon. so the larry came over and helped me to do packing. on the way we start chit chatting and all that. :D he kinda reminds me of shawn from juice. wonder if they're related. they definately look alike, if i remember correct. next, kiat. actually i only worked with him for a really short while. evening, i totally cannot cashier anymore. i was making mistakes like almost giving the wrong change and all that. so tired. so i went to the back and jo gave me some price tag to do and kiat had to assist me. nice guy. temp staff like me. he's not that keen on cashiering so he always ends up doing stuff like the price tags. next guy, jovan. he the ladies' dept's G2. poor guy got transferred from men's cos our original G2 and G1 vanished and apparently there's a shortage of staff at ladies'. i was supposed to help him do packing cos he's really uncomfortable about handling lingerie. but in the end, cos jo called me to the back, he was on his own. and happy to say, he's overcome his discomfort. so we were chit chatting in between customers and all.

other people i work with. francisca my fellow G3. nice sweet girl. :D not much chance for us to really work together cos the perm staff don't like us hanging around together. they rather we be independent. whatever. soo hua my perm staff buddy. at first, she looked very strict type. but get to know her, she's ok really. always coming to rescue me from my screw ups at the cash till. nisha and latifah. 2 gila perm staffs. life's never boring with them around especially latifah. florence, candy and jo. the higher up staff. all looking fierce and strict. especially jo. (no offence meant) picture verena, taller, skinnier, really black face look. mummy saw her yesterday and even she thought jo was fierce. she thought jo was going to scold me when she made me go out back to do the price tags. florence and candy, not so fierce and strict looking but still have the look nevertheless.

ok. enough about work. still have yet to meet zaidah about the choir. supposed to meet her on tues. she'll come find me at parkway. yay! then can see the scores. i downloaded the songs. love the one, i think it's "caresses l'ocean" something like that. sweet. the other one's ok. not as nice but still.of course i'm not hopeful that i'll be ready to perform on that day but it'll be fun learning the song. fingers crossed that we can hold scores on that day.

andrew's cantoring today was ok. considering that he didn't really practice and only just learnt it on tuesday. busy lah. thought he'd be able to handle practicing by himself like the other cantors do. only i think he's the most difficult cantor to train. brother aside. it takes me a million times playing the tune over and over and over again before he gets it. :p and he's way too tall for the mic. or rather, the mic's too short for him. it's obvious. it has never had to handle such a tall fella before. ever. geez.

and fr khoo gave another half hour homily. and i have no idea what he was yakking about, my poor sleep deprived brain being unable to process. i only remember something about casinos in heaven...holy spirit thingy... of course it's my own fault that i'm sleep deprived cos after a full day at work (literal 12 hr shift), i still stayed up to catch the midnight to 1am repeat of the corey clark primetime interview. and then insomnia. just as i was about to fall asleep, zaidah msged me. and woke me up cos that ringing tone of mine is darn loud. sigh.

right. brain blocked. more next time.

firstly, so sad!! the photos i took during ms wee's wedding have mysteriously vanished from my memory card. sob sob. how come??!! sigh. the pictures. gone. forever.

pissed off with my stupid computer. stupid stupid fucking thing. first, cannot open links. so i have to manually type out the entire web address for the links. eg just now i had to accept nus application. the darn thing refused to open and kept hanging everytime i tried. grr... wanted to access duan hui's friendster blog. also cannot. so have to type the address. which brings me to my next complaint. somehow the backspace button can't work on the address bar. meaning when i type wrong, like duan hui's very complicated blog address, i have to delete the entire address and start from scratch. sometimes i feel like beating up the computer.

next thing. i've got into nus. arts and social sciences. i don't know if that's a good thing. it's my second choice and secretly i was hoping i'd get it too. the point being that i didn't get my first choice, science fac to do maths. which confirms my belief that the education system is just biased against arts students. i got a freaking A for maths lor! what's the problem there?! just because i'm arts student, i can't make the transition over to the science fac. what the heck?! and they allow science students who have no experience whatsoever in arts fac to cross over to fass. how bias can that be? moral: be a science student. then you can do whatever you want. whatever. arts rocks! but i haven't decided what major. probably english language and lit. but still thinking about it. not much to do in arts. :p

talking about american idol. anthony is out. sad. he's really a good singer. wonder if he'll do an album. i wanna buy it. love his voice. seriously, it's not so harsh on the ears as clay. haha! claymates are gonna kill me when they hear this. but kinda expected anthony to be out. no surprises this week. he's good but others are better. now rooting for vonzell. anyway, saw something interesting in today's papers. apparently there was a screw-up with the voting numbers again. something about the number on screen was stuck on carrie's number. so they were apologising to those hearing impaired people who got mixed up. i'm thinking, (no offence to anyone) if you're hearing impaired and you manage to hear the singers singing, then you should have absolutely no problem with the numbers. if you have problem hearing the numbers, then it implies that you can't hear the singers either and therefore should have no business voting. who da heck would you vote for?!

next. met zaidah yesterday after work. :D talked a while about the choir. thinking of taking part in the choir performance. they're singing 2 songs from "les choristes". *gasp* and zofia's the soloist. i asked zaidah to try and get the scores for me. those songs are so beautiful. beyonce ruined it when she sang it at the oscars, in my opinion. that type of song must be choir singing. beyonce's type of voice totally destroys the song. can't wait to hear it sung.

and my first 'week' at work. not too bad. lot easier than at juice. definately. nice environment. people are friendly. ignoring the fact that at first most of the senior staff looks fierce and scary. they're really great people once you get to know them. well, usually i do cashiering (which i try to avoid but no choice), tidying up the display etc. i like doing the fitting room cos that's quite slack. but usually i got no chance to do it. no idea how come. i'd somehow find myself jalan around the store instead. or i'd find myself doing manual labour. moving the shelves and displays. and my fellow temp staff slacks (sort of) in the fitting room. weird. how come ah? but it's a good experience.
